Flameworked beads

...Flameworking (also known as Lampworking)  takes the ancient process of creating flameworked glass beads over a flame dating back to 1300 BC, Italy.

A glass rod or tubing is slowly introduced into a flame and heated until molten, then wound around a steel mandrel to form the base glass bead.

Layers of glass are added, sculpted and decorated using a variety of techniques and materials, resulting in colours and shapes with depth, dimension and a beautiful play of light...
